One of the blessings of the Christmas season is an opportunity to bump into people I don’t often see. A question I hear often now in regard to writing is this one: “What are you up to?”
Well, not blogging, evidently. Ooops.
But seeing as I have been writing and people have been asking, I thought I’d share a bit of my writing work lately.
Oh, you bet. In fact, 2019 was my busiest year yet for hymns. We’ll see how 2020 goes, but I’ve had some fun opportunities lately, and I cherish the time I can stash away for a bit of hymn writing. In fact, 2020 will be a very special year! For the first time ever, some of my hymns will be in a hymnal. To make this moment even more special, it is a children’s hymnal by Concordia Publishing House. To know that my words might be sung by children in classrooms, Sunday Schools, and homes brings a tear to my eye.
If you’d like to know more about it, here is a link.
While hymns might be my chief love, devotions are almost like breathing for me. I’ve had the pleasure of writing new devotions lately. If you subscribe to Portals of Prayer, we’ll get to spend time together soon. And if you’re using the Eyes on Jesus Daily Devotions for Lent and Easter, we’ll be spending Lent together too!
Oh, yes. What an new adventure for me! It’s been an exciting year of learning, to be sure.
What about Christmas services, children’s books, and curriculum? Well, I can’t tell you too much at the moment, but I’ll try to keep you posted.
To be sure, I’m editing far more than writing, as it should be. After all, that’s my job! It’s a joy to be able to work with the writing of others daily.
Wait . . . what about fiction?
Allow me to quote a meme I found last week:
“My best fiction writing is my daily to-do list.”
Yep, that pretty much sums it up. 😀
